The best way to see into the past is to look into photographs taken in the past. Reading about history and listening to history is one way, but to actually see into history I feel is the only way to feel as if you have actually been there. The following photographs are just a small collection of pictures taken over the years. We are hoping to get a historical reference book ready for our centenary in 2008. Please enjoy the pictures and if you recognise anybody in any of them then please contact us on We would love to hear from you. |

This photograph, we believe, was taken in November 1910. The scouter in the centre is the founder of our group, Douglas Foxwell. Directly behind Douglas Foxwell are the colours. These were embroidered by mothers of the scouts. The colours were presented in 1910. Douglas Foxwell left for London in 1910 so this could be the presentation of the colours.

| Scouts ready to go!
This picture shows some of the cubs and scouts that went to Holland to visit a Dutch Scout group. The trip was all down to a friendship that had been forged 23 years earlier in 1965. A group of Dutch Scouts had been visiting Chatsworth House and two of them had stayed with Ada Perkins. “We had two of them staying with us, and we have been friends ever since,” said Ada. This Photograph was taken for the Derby Evening Telegraph in 1988 |
